Empowering Our Dreams

In the January newsletter, I talked about creating a vision for our lives, but it’s not always easy to sustain that vision when our reality isn’t reflecting it yet. There are several principles and practices that I think are particularly powerful for moving us towards realizing our vision.

Keep creating a vision for your life and keep taking concrete action. When we do both, we can grow in quantum leaps. Here are some suggestions to keep moving forward:

Here they are:

  • Release Your Limits: There are endless possibilities open to you and you can choose to embrace them. If you released your limitations and your self-doubt, what would your life look like?
  • Utilize the Power of Intention and Visualization: To work with the power of intention think about what you really want in life and know you can have it.
  • Write your intentions and desires down and then activate them from time to time by imagining that they’ve already come true. Deepak Chopra says that “intention has organizing power.” It’s as if the universe eavesdrops on our intentions and then helps us fulfill them. If your vision is limited, chances are your outcome will be too. Write-out your desires and goals and then glance at them regularly before meditation or sleep. And then let go.
  • Pause to Evaluate Your Life: You’re life is likely very busy. As a result of this, you may wake up next year in exactly the same place you are now. Make it a point to check-in on your life to see if it needs a course correction.
  • Connect with Source: Take time to go within, to meditate or to just be. When you take time to ‘be still’ you infuse your being with a sense of calm and trust and possibility.
  • Ask Spirit to Guide You: Ask to be guided to the fulfillment of your intentions and be alert to signs and synchronicities and themes that emerge in your life. This is how Spirit guides you.
  • Let Go of the How: Think about what you want, but not “how” you are going to get there. Of course you still need to take action, but know that the universe is always working behind the scenes.
  • Reduce Overwhelm: If you notice yourself holding your breath or feeling like you need to catch up, remind yourself that you can’t live your life in one day, so don’t try. Instead, prioritize and then focus your attention on what matters most.
  • Give Yourself Downtime: If you are ceaselessly striving, you’ll be exhausted and life won’t be fun. No matter what is up for you, even if it feels like a life crisis, take time off from working on the solution. Play. Yes, sometimes, joyful distraction is exactly what we need.
  • Invest Time in Yourself: Ceaselessly striving causes burn out and ultimately takes the fun out of life so be sure to take time for yourself. Nurture your mind, body and soul through exercise, play, social time, downtime and whatever else rejuvenates you.
  • Detach and Trust: Sometimes, the universe has something better in store for us then what we’ve imagined. And sometimes, not getting what (we think) we want is a blessing. Keep dreaming, keep smiling, keep imagining and yet also relax and let go.
  • Surround Yourself with the Positive: Share your dreams and your heart’s desires with those that support you and those that are optimistic about life.
  • Think About What You Want: Focus your attention on what you want, not what you don’t want or what you lack. Whatever we put our attention on grows. Plant your seeds and grow your dreams.Wishing you the best!
  • Talk with People who are Positive: Don’t share your dreams with a naysayer. Share your dreams and ideas and brainstorm with wise and supportive friends and colleagues.
  • Take Action: Take action that is in harmony with your dreams and desires. If you’re waiting for a sign or crystal clarity; you may wait for a long time. We often find our way by taking it.

Focus of the Month:
Observe your patterns and notice how you get derailed from your vision and goals. First comes awareness, and then comes change. Working with a life coach  or hypnotherapist can really accelerate your growth.

Humorous Insight:
I like this quote by George Carlin: “I don’t think positive thinking is a very good idea” Why do I like this quote? Because positive thinking can be overdone and if we gloss over negative feelings with positive affirmations it can be like putting a clear coat over moldy paint – it can seal the present reality. In truth, sometimes we need to feel downright awful to make a change.

 Quotes:
“As far as life situation is concerned, there may be things to be attained or acquired. Yet on a deeper level you are already complete and when you realize that, there is a playful, joyous energy behind what you do. You no longer pursue goals with grim determination, driven by fear, anger, discontent, or the need to become someone. Nor will you remain inactive through fear of failure.  When your deeper sense of self is derived from Being, when you are free of “becoming”, neither your happiness nor your sense of self depends on the outcome.” Eckhart Tolle

“Do not wait; the time will never be ‘just right’. Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.” Napolean Hill.
