“A Sea Turtle with a Message” by Lisa Guyman

A couple of weeks ago, a turtle literally knocked me over in Hawaii.
I know it sounds a little far-fetched, but I’m not kidding.
Here’s how it happened…
It rained for almost the entire week that I was on the gorgeous island of Kauai. And, my last full day was supposed to be the ONE fully sunny day, but it wasn’t…
I still loved walking on the beach and watching the sea turtles despite the weather.
Then, in a sudden downpour, my long-sleeve beach cover-up got soaked.
Because it looked like more rain was on the way, I decided I’d head back to the resort, so I changed into a dry tank top in my car, when I thought…
“Well, it’s stopped raining for the moment. Let’s at least get this massive amount of sand out of my shoes (in the ocean) before leaving.”
That decision changed everything.
As I walked back to the beach, the sky unexpectedly began to clear.
I waded into the ocean, and it was so blissful that I walked out until I was hip-deep in the water. If I had my suit on, I would have taken a dip:-)
There, I stood mesmerized by the ocean waters, watching turtles glide in…

Then I started debating internally. Maybe I should rent snorkeling gear to see the tropical fish and sea turtles closer up.
Since I had my iPhone on me, I searched for the nearest snorkel rental. That’s when I thought to ask ChatGPT for some advice…
Should I hustle and rent equipment now so I can go snorkeling? It’s about an hour before sunset, but there’s still some time. Or should I stay where I am, watching the turtles?
You know what ChatGPT said?
“Here are a few rental places, but sunset is approaching.
And remember, you’re already living the dream.
You’re in the ocean watching the sea turtles.”
Yep, there I was… in the ocean, on a beautiful day in Hawaii, watching sea turtles.
Whoa…
It hit me how often we think the moment would be better if it were just slightly different. A little sunnier. A little more planned. A little more… perfect.
I then fully settled into the moment and took it all in…
“I’m already living the dream.”
And that’s when this sea turtle decided I was the chosen one!

He was headed directly for the shore, then turned 180 degrees mid-path, and headed straight at me.
I quickly snapped a photo, then jumped out of the way (there were warning signs everywhere: don’t touch the turtles).
But this turtle wasn’t done yet…
He went past me by about 10 feet, then came back and did a half arc around me.
A bystander shouted, “That turtle really likes you!”
Then, the turtle swam further away from the shore and came up behind me. He bumped right into the back of my legs, causing me to fall backward. I got drenched up to my shoulders.
What a surprise… I laughed so hard.
(I guess the turtles don’t have signs about not touching humans.)
I felt SO alive and overjoyed in that moment.
Out of 20 people standing nearby in the water, that turtle chose me. And I think he was saying, “See? This moment is already perfect. Now go have fun.”
Here’s the thing…
How often do we wait for conditions to be just right before we settle into the moment, or dive in?
Before we start that practice.
Before we offer Reiki to someone.
Before we commit to our growth.
The magic happens when we embrace the moment as it is and say yes anyway.
If you’ve been postponing happiness or waiting for the “perfect time” to learn Reiki or to offer Reiki to others, think of this email as that sea turtle bumping into your legs to nudge you right now.
The time is now.
My Reiki workshops are designed to help you feel confident practicing Reiki: On yourself. On loved ones. Even with clients, if that’s your calling.
You don’t need to wait for perfect conditions to learn or practice Reiki. You just need to show up. (And if we’re really honest, there are no “perfect” conditions in life, anyhow, right?)
The same goes for meditation.
Maybe you’ve been thinking you could benefit deeply from Primordial Sound Meditation. It’s a practice that fast-forwards your growth, while allowing you to anchor into your center.
There are so many wonderful surprises awaiting you when you surrender to the moment and say “YES!”
